CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Community Support, Hwange and Matobo Hills:
In addition to the work done in the Matobo Hills with local schools as part of the Southern Ground Hornbill project, the Trust has been involved with construction work at Nechilibi High school in Hwange, building a dormitory for girls so they will not have to walk several kilometers each day. The trust was instrumental in the construction of an extra wing at Mabale Clinic, Hwange, specifically aimed at providing a place for expectant mothers to have pre- and post-natal care as well as a place for patients needing a bed for a longer period of time than was previously possible. In the Matobo hills, thanks to a generous donor we are supporting three orphans with their schooling costs. We also support the Lion researchers in Hwange, buying tranquilisers and other materials and they return the favour by giving talks to guests at Ivory Lodge about the work they are doing. We have also been involved in distributing almost 50 wheelchairs to the needy in the three areas where we work.
