Mission Statement

Our Mission Statement

Africa…. seemingly beautiful, images of exoctic wild animals and people come to mind.  But do not make the mistake of visiting her and feel you understand her problems an her people.

Change moves through Africa like the rapid waters of the Zambezi and the winds of the Serengeti.  The soul of Africa is not dead, but silent.  The wisdom not lacking, but of such simplicity, she is often discounted in our modern world.

If you seek to conquer Africa, or fix her problems, you have overlooked the vital soul of Africa herself.  Unpredictable, wild and free, she emanates a true resistance to domination and acquistion.  Throughout history Africa has endured numerous attempts to subdue and master her.  She has pitted man against man, tribe against tribe, nation against nation.  Time and time again, Africa defeats them, and modern mans’s efforts appear to have been in vain.

History tells us that Africa has not – or cannot, be helped by conventional means for our modern society.  You cannot donate food and medicine and pretend to “cure” the continent.  You cannot throw money at her and expect her to be “fixed”.  However, Africa is a wild and willing student and can be a loyal and loving mother to her children.   As with nature, the answer is simple;  Start small.  Plant a seed. And then, with a mother’s nurturing love, Africa will flourish.  Slowly yes.  Quietly yes – but this time with her dignity in tact…

WHAT CAN BE DONE? The women of Africa have often been overlooked.  Their innate wisdom, strength and determination are the key to helping Africa reach her full potential – yet the women of Africa are rarely given a chance.  Worldwide, every mother understands that education is the key to a better life for her children.  There is much essence in the famous phrase- “the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world”.  It is widely reported that there have been cases of African mothers sacrificing themselves and having unprotected sex with HIV men, just so that their children could go to school and have a better future…

“Mother Africa” is dreaming of a better future:

  • “Mother Africa” will advertise in England, New Zealand, America and Australia for young teachers, medical students, school leavers or retired professionals who aare willing to donate their time in exchange for experiencing this extraordinary country.  A time to “give back” to the environment what modern man/and the impact of tourism has taken out.
  • Medical personal will assist mothers on basic health issues
  • Anti-poaching – snare sweeps and the identification of snare lines
  • rehabilitation of the forest which is constantly being demolished by wood carvers and wood poachers
  • Collection of data from Vulture feeding research programs and bio-diversity wildlife surveys in the area
  • fire guards and their maintenance

And much much more…

What is “Mother Africa’s” final goal?

The Mother Africa organisation believes that one person can make a difference.  Like nature herself, change will be a gradual process.  But we are confident, with care and nurturing, this might be the first time an organisation has actually changed the face of this reslient country in a gradual and quiet way – just like the very nature of Africa herself…
